In an effort to aid other grassroots community history projects, Chicana por mi Raza publishes a variety of digital guides to provide training and reference in digitizing, video recording, and other pertinent topics. We also welcome contributions from partner projects that develop their own training guides.
This guide provides complete instruction in how to scan photographs, papers, and other archival items for inclusion in a digital repository. The document covers selecting the right DPI (dots per inch), cropping and selecting scanner settings. It is based on the Federal Agencues Digital Guidelines Iniative recommendatiosn for cultural heritage archiving.
